Meet My Family

Matthew lives in Cleveland, Ohio, with his wife, Amanda, his daughter Chloe, his son Anthony, and their two black cats—Moon, the larger and watchful companion, and Star, the smaller, quiet shadow who follows closely behind. He is a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and Cleveland Cavaliers, and finds inspiration in the simple rhythms of everyday life—local pizza shops, quiet book nooks, small coffee houses, and the many hiking trails of Northeast Ohio, where he often spends time reading, writing, and reflecting beneath the stars.

In his free time, Matthew enjoys building detailed models, playing video games, and reading widely—ranging from history to fantasy. He also spends time sketching freehand in pencil, continuing his interest in visual storytelling beyond the written page. He has a deep appreciation for 1980s and 1990s film and pop culture, with a particular fondness for classic monster cinema—especially the enduring legacy of Godzilla.

Why I write

Matthew Pflug writes lyrical fantasy stories rooted in memory, family, loss, and the quiet places where forgotten things wait to be found. Drawing from a life shaped by discipline, craftsmanship, and a deep personal reflection, his work blends imagination with emotional truth—creating stories that resonate across generations.

A husband of fifteen years and a father of two, Matthew’s storytelling is grounded in real-life experience and the belief that meaningful stories can help us reconnect—with each other, with our past, and with the parts of ourselves we may have lost along the way. His work is inspired by the world he built for his children over many years—stories that began as simple ideas and grew into something lasting.

Thank you for allowing me to share my world with you.
